About the Johan Holme Ndlovu Development Foundation

The Johan Holme Ndlovu Development Foundation was founded by the family of the late Educator, Political Activist, Community Leader, Father and Husband in his Memoriam. The foundation seeks to honor the fallen comrade by implementing programmes that further the causes that he was passionate about in his lifetime.

The programmes that the foundation aims to implement are geared towards bringing inclusive development in the Manyeleti Community. We aim to use research to design and implement initiatives that bring impactful change to the lives of people in Manyeleti and the community at large.

Target Challenges

Through consultative processes and our own experience with the community we have identified the following challenge that we aim to tackle:

Poverty

The greatest challenge facing the community of Manyeleti is Poverty. Many households are living without access to basic healthcare, water and sanitation, lack of income and no food and basic amenities.

Youth
Unemployment

The economy of Manyeleti although vibrant struggles to provide adequate employment for young people between the ages of 18 -35. The high youth unemployment rate contributes to many adverse issues in our community including crime, substance abuse and protests.

Lack of
Education

There has been progress in getting more young people into institutions of higher learning post-matric, however many more still are at home post-matric and becoming victims of an exclusionary system. Many other young people drop out of institutions of basic education due to challenges that need to be thoroughly researched and addressed.

Economic
Development

The Manyeleti Community has great potential in achieving inclusive development through the development of infrastructure, improved service delivery and access to all the necessary resources that develop the community.
